SEOUL — Netflix's popular Korean original series "Gyeongseong Creature" is set to unveil its second season on September 27, marking a return to the chilling narrative that captivated audiences worldwide.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the upcoming season of "Gyeongseong Creature 2" will transport viewers to present-day Seoul, diverging from the historical backdrop of its predecessor. The narrative follows Ho-jae, a new character bearing a striking resemblance to Jang Tae-sang from the first season, and Yoon Chae-ok as they delve into a series of mysterious events and dark connections that thread through the city.

Reprising their roles, Park Seo-joon as Ho-jae and Han So-hee as Chae-ok bring continuity and depth to the evolving storyline. Joining the cast this season is Lee Moo-saeng, who takes on the role of Captain Kuroko, the leader of a clandestine group of elite agents.

The inaugural season, which debuted in January, was set in 1945 in Gyeongseong, the old name for present-day Seoul, during the final throes of Korea's occupation by Japan. It introduced viewers to a gripping plot involving Imperial Japan's sinister biological experiments aimed at creating monstrous creatures. The story followed Park's character, Jang Tae-sang, as he infiltrated a hospital to uncover these experiments while searching for a missing Korean geisha. Meanwhile, Han's character, Yoon Chae-ok, joined the mission to discover the fate of her missing mother.
