UMNO’s Resolve to Fortify Its Own Strength Emphasized by Mohamad Hasan

Kuala lumpur: UMNO is committed to building its own strength and will never sacrifice its dignity to secure political positions or rely on the goodwill of others, says its deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. He emphasized that the party was founded on the struggle to defend religion, race, and country, not to depend on the sympathy of external parties. Mohamad Hasan urged party leaders and members at all levels to focus on reinforcing internal strength as their primary line of defense against any political challenge.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan made these remarks during his winding-up speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. He stated, "UMNO has never expected sympathy from others, nor was it established on anyone's goodwill. We were formed to defend the Malays, our race, and our religion. Do not dream that other parties will guide our revival. No one wants to see us rise again. We must build our own strength, because when we are strong, others cannot push us around."

Commenting on the political understanding concept (Tafahum Siyasi), Mohamad reminded that it must be implemented fairly and not benefit only one party. To test the sincerity and honesty of political allies supporting the ummah unity agenda, he proposed that one of the Perikatan Nasional-led state governments (SG4) hold an early state election. "A political understanding must not be one-sided, where we seek cooperation while they reap all the benefits. I propose that after Melaka, we test how sincere our partners are by asking one of the SG4 states to call an election," he added.

Mohamad stressed that honesty in negotiations was vital to establishing a solid framework to unite the Malays ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).
