Melaka: UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged the National Consultative Secretariat to focus on the eight initiatives under the Blue Malaysia Agenda during an upcoming workshop and retreat in Melaka. Ahmad Zahid emphasized the need to develop a comprehensive and practical blueprint with clear targets for the agenda.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid stated that the Blue Malaysia Agenda should not merely remain an idea but should be translated into actionable policies and outcomes that are grounded and oriented towards the people. He proposed that this agenda be included in Barisan Nasional's official manifesto for the next general election. This declaration was made during his closing speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly (PAU 2026) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by key UMNO figures, including deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and vice-presidents Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

In his policy speech at PAU 2026, Ahmad Zahid outlined that if UMNO and BN return to power, the Blue Malaysia Agenda will be pivotal in steering the country's direction towards its centenary of independence. The agenda aims to foster a Malaysia that is Sovereign and United, Innovative and High-Income, and Prosperous and Equitable for its People, while also being Outstanding and Respected Globally.

One of the primary initiatives is to transform Malaysia into a nation of creators by establishing high-technology companies and global-standard industries that are created, designed, and owned by Malaysians. Additionally, the agenda seeks to redefine economic success, targeting a scenario where every family has at least 30 percent disposable income after fulfilling basic needs, allowing for saving, investing, and enjoying life.

Furthermore, the agenda plans to restructure national priorities, with significant changes in tax policies, including a restructuring of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) at a reasonable rate.
