Philippines Launches Multi-Tranche US Dollar Bond Offering

MANILA — The Philippines has launched a three-tranche US dollar-denominated bond offering, marking its second venture into the international bond market this year. This initiative is aimed at bolstering the country's financial resources for general budgetary support and sustainable projects.

According to Philippines News Agency, the offering is of benchmark size and includes tranches maturing in 2030, 2035, and 2049. Moody's Ratings reported that the proceeds from the bond issuance will serve general state purposes and also fund eligible projects under the Philippines' Sustainable Finance Framework, particularly with the tranche maturing in 2049. This follows a successful USD2 billion raise from 10- and 25-year global bonds issued by the Philippine government in May.

Additionally, the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) successfully awarded re-issued 20-year Treasury bonds (T-bonds) with an average rate of 6.198 percent on Wednesday. This auction, featuring bonds with a remaining term of 19 years and nine months, was 1.8 times oversubscribed, with total tenders reaching PHP45.1 billion. Consequently, the BTr raised the full program amount of PHP25 billion, increasing the total outstanding volume for the series to PHP102.7 billion.
