Kuala lumpur: The left lane of the North-South Expressway (NSE) southbound at KM263.6, which was temporarily closed following a landslide, has been reopened to all vehicles at 1 pm today. This reopening comes after comprehensive technical assessments confirmed the slope's safety.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin indicated that the authorities have deemed the location secure. "As such, the southbound left lane was reopened to all vehicles at 1 pm. Traffic in both directions is currently reported to be flowing smoothly," he stated. While traffic is moving without interruptions, ongoing repair works on the slope aim to maintain the area's safety.

He further urged motorists to exercise caution when passing through the reopened area. Compliance with safety instructions and signages is essential, especially under adverse weather conditions like rain or bad weather, to ensure safety.

The left lane closure, spanning about one kilometre, was initially prompted by a slope collapse at KM263.6 of the North-South Expressway (southbound), situated between the Menora Tunnel and Ipoh. This incident, reported by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), led to a significant traffic jam, with congestion stretching up to 15 kilometers.
