Seoul: South Korea will allocate 98.3 billion won (US$66.9 million) this year to support local businesses in the export market, aiming to sustain their export momentum amid global trade uncertainties, the industry ministry announced on Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the financial support will be extended to approximately 7,800 companies participating in international exhibitions worldwide. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy reported that last year, Korean firms secured a combined $3.4 billion in export deals by attending 139 technology exhibitions, collaborating with the government.
In 2025, the government intends to highlight Korean companies' technologies and cultural content at an international tech show in Osaka, commencing next month. Additionally, an export conference will be organized alongside the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju, located around 275 kilometers southeast of Seoul, in October.
Furthermore, the government plans to host K-Expo events this year across six locations-New York, Toronto, Dubai, Madrid, Phnom Penh, and Almaty-to promote the Korean food, beauty, content, lifestyle, and tech industries.
