Selangor: The services and manufacturing sectors have emerged as the top contributors to investment value in Selangor for the first half of the year. Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han revealed that these sectors were identified based on an investment totaling RM70 billion recorded by June.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the majority of the investment value approved by the state government was attributed to the services and manufacturing sectors. Ng expressed confidence in reaching the RM80 billion target within the next few months. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the logistics vehicle company Steelbro's factory and central workshop in Telok Gong.
Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, expressed optimism last Tuesday about the potential for the investment value in Selangor to exceed RM100 billion this year, citing the positive momentum and investment trend.
Ng attributed the robust performance to the collaboration between the state government, Invest Selangor, and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in attracting investments to the region. He emphasized the importance of this partnership in sustaining the investment momentum and ensuring the realization of approved projects.
"We are witnessing Selangor's investment performance continue to record impressive figures with RM101 billion in approved investments in 2024 and RM70 billion for the first half of this year," Ng noted.
Regarding the Selangor Budget 2027, Ng mentioned that the Menteri Besar recently held a dialogue with university professors and stakeholders to gather insights and requests from various sectors. The aim is to craft a budget that is more aligned with the state's developmental priorities, which will be announced in mid-November.
Ng also highlighted Selangor's strategic role as Malaysia's gateway to the world, particularly with its robust logistics sector. He encouraged further investment in local talent and suppliers, urging companies like Steelbro, a New Zealand-based firm, to continue supporting the growth of local engineers and technicians.
