SEOUL—The Seoul city government is set to enliven the Chuseok holiday with a series of street art festivals and traditional cultural events aimed at both residents and visitors. These events are scheduled throughout the extended holiday period in various locations across the capital.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the annual Seoul Street Art Festival, taking place from Monday to Wednesday near the Cheonggye Stream, will feature an array of performances including plays, dances, traditional theater, and circus acts. Concurrently, the Seoul Gugak Music Festival will be held at Donhwamun Gate on Tuesday and Wednesday, presenting a range of traditional Korean music performances by gugak musicians and dancers from diverse age groups.

Further enriching the holiday's cultural offerings, the Namsangol Hanok Village will host a Chuseok entertainment program from Sunday to Wednesday. This program includes traditional Ganggangsullae group dances, the Charye ancestor-honoring ceremony, and traditional liquor distributions. Similarly, Unhyeon Palace will offer visitors a variety of traditional performances and hands-on experiences with traditional games, as well as the distribution of songpyeon, a beloved sticky rice cake associated with the holiday.

Additional festivities will occur at Donuimun Museum Village, which hosts a bazaar over the weekend and a gugak performance on Tuesday. Throughout the holiday, an outdoor library will be available at Gwanghwamun Square and along the Cheonggye Stream from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with outdoor movie screenings each night from Monday to Wednesday at Gwanghwamun Square.

City-run cultural facilities, including the Seoul Museum of Art and the Seoul Museum of Craft Art, will remain open to the public during the holiday, providing further opportunities for cultural engagement and celebration.
