Malaysia: Malaysia will conduct an investigation following the detention of 30 Malaysians suspected of being involved in online scam activities in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the country's authorities would take appropriate action regarding the matter.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the usual practice is for the Indonesian authorities to contact the Malaysian police force to allow for an investigation from Malaysia's perspective. The investigation aims to determine whether the operation involved only these 30 individuals acting independently or if they were part of a more organized syndicate. The gathered information will help formulate a plan for further action.

This statement was made at a media conference after the launch of the 2026 MADANI Adopted Village and School by the Immigration Department at Sekolah Kebangsaan Nenasi. Indonesian authorities had reportedly detained 30 Malaysians and a Taiwanese national at a hotel at about 11:15 am on Tuesday following intelligence on suspicious activities involving foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin Nasution, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general, emphasized that the MADANI Government's current focus is on prioritizing issues affecting the people. He mentioned that there is still ample time until February 2028 to leverage their position in the government, maintain stability, manage the economy prudently, and focus on the welfare of the people.

He also addressed calls for the 16th General Election (GE16) to be held earlier than scheduled, stating that more than a year is sufficient time to fulfill responsibilities as leaders and safeguard the people's welfare, which he considers to be of greater importance.
