Digital Driver’s License Renewal Now on eGovPH App

Quezon city: Drivers may now renew their license completely online following the launch of the online driver's license renewal system (ODLRS) integrated with the eGovPH mobile application (app). During the launch at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Office in Quezon City, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon announced that the new online system simplifies the renewal process and eliminates the need for physical visits to LTO offices.

According to Philippines News Agency, the LTO's digitalization efforts are part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to enhance online accessibility of government services. The launch was executed in collaboration with the DOTr and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II, stated that the digitalization initiative aims to streamline transactions for all clients, ensuring a fast and comfortable experience.

To renew a license via the eGovPH app, drivers need to download and install the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. After verification, users must navigate to the NGA icon, select LTO, then choose 'Online Driver's Application' followed by 'Renew Your Driver's License.' The process involves uploading a photo of the driver's license, undergoing validation and verification, and having a photo taken according to LTO standards.

Additionally, renewal applicants can conduct their medical examination online through the LTO ODLRS portal and arrange telemedicine appointments. The mandatory five-hour Driver's Enhancement Program (DEP) is also accessible online via the portal. Online payment options for driver's license renewal are available, and Mendoza advised applicants to complete the medical examination and DEP in advance as part of the renewal requirements.

Upon successful completion of the process, the driver's license is renewed, and an electronic version is generated within the eGovPH app. Applicants can opt for home delivery of the physical card or pick it up at the nearest LTO district office.
