BAGUIO CITY — The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) has raised its alert status from blue to red as the region braces for the impact of Tropical Depression Gener and the southwest monsoon, with Tropical Storm Pulasan also anticipated to affect the area.
According to Philippines News Agency, chair and Office of Civil Defense Director Albert Mogol led an online pre-disaster risk assessment (PDRA) meeting on Monday following a report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) - Baguio. The provinces of Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and several others are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1. Gener is expected to make landfall in Isabela or Aurora within 24 hours, with heavy rainfall anticipated due to the enhanced southwest monsoon. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has pre-positioned 65,494 family food packs worth PHP51.7 million and other non-food items in warehouses across the region, including in La Trinidad, Benguet.
