CALUYA, ANTIQUE – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has successfully brought home all 10 survivors of two motorbancas that capsized earlier this week off Caluya Island in Antique province, amid ongoing search efforts for seven still missing.

According to Philippines News Agency, one of the survivors was reunited with his family in San Jose, Romblon on Thursday, while the remaining nine were transported back to Caluya, Antique on Friday. The incident also resulted in three fatalities, with the deceased's families having claimed their remains at the Municipal Hall of Looc on Thursday.

The tragic event occurred on Monday morning when the two motorbancas, named MBCA Ure Mae and another unnamed vessel, left Boracay Island for Caluya. They encountered rough seas and adverse weather conditions, leading to their capsizing. A total of 20 passengers, including the boat captains, were on board at the time of the accident.

"The PCG, together with the Philippine National Police - Maritime Group (PNP-MARIG) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), continue their joint search and rescue operations to locate the seven missing passengers," the Coast Guard stated, emphasizing their commitment to the ongoing search efforts.
