Seri alam: A total of 4,646 domestic violence cases were recorded nationwide from January to July this year, said Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Lim Hui Ying. She noted that this alarming figure underscores the urgent need to bolster prevention efforts, early intervention, and access to assistance channels through initiatives spearheaded by the Women's Development Department (JPW).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor reported 823 cases, a significant increase from the 518 cases recorded during the same period in 2025. Lim Hui Ying emphasized that domestic violence extends beyond physical abuse to include emotional, psychological, sexual, and financial abuse, as well as controlling a person's movements and relationships. These forms of abuse are increasingly manifesting in the digital realm.

Lim highlighted that such violence often starts with behaviors perceived as normal, such as excessive control, threats, or insults. She stressed the importance of societal vigilance to recognize early warning signs before situations escalate. Lim made these remarks while officiating the Aku Wanita @ Domestic Violence (KRT) Well-being Advocacy Programme and the 2026 Johor PRISMAnita Open Day organized by JPW in Seri Alam.

To ensure women have expedited and systematic access to assistance, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development has introduced PRISMAnita. This initiative stands for Referral, Intervention, Support, Information, and Advocacy for Women, and was launched by the Prime Minister on March 10 this year. It aims to connect women with government services and relevant agencies in an efficient and user-friendly manner.

As of August, 117 clients had availed services through PRISMAnita @ PPWN nationwide. In Johor, this service is available through the Johor Women's Development Office. The public is encouraged to seek assistance or file complaints by contacting the 24-hour Talian Kasih hotline at 15999, via WhatsApp at 019-2615999, or by visiting the Johor Women's Development Office or the nearest police station.
