New York: Second Vice Foreign Minister Kang In-sun met with U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed to discuss cooperation on addressing North Korean issues, among other topics, as reported by the foreign ministry. The meeting was part of Kang's four-day visit to New York, which also included participation in a high-level open debate on U.N. peace operations and a briefing on the Syrian situation.

According to Yonhap News Agency, during the meeting, Kang requested that the United Nations persist in delivering strong messages condemning North Korea's violations of U.N. Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, including its illegal military alignment with Russia. Additionally, Kang engaged in a separate discussion with Haoliang Xu, associate administrator of the U.N. Development Programme, suggesting the continuation of effective and impactful joint projects.

Kang attended a UNSC high-level open debate on strengthening U.N. peace operations, where she highlighted the necessity of tailoring missions to each peace operation unit to address evolving challenges. She stressed the importance of adjusting peace operations to specific on-site situations and integrating conflict prevention, peace settlement, and other measures to ensure sustainable peace.

Furthermore, Kang affirmed South Korea's commitment to enhancing cooperation between the UNSC and the U.N. Peacebuilding Commission, an advisory body supporting peace initiatives in conflict-affected regions, as indicated by the ministry.
