SEOUL — The Seoul Central District Court has scheduled a bail hearing for September 30 to decide whether to release popera singer Kim Ho-joong, who faces charges related to a hit-and-run incident earlier this year. Kim, a notable figure in the fusion genre of pop and opera, was indicted with physical detention following the incident that occurred in Seoul's upscale Gangnam district.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim was charged in June for driving his car across a centerline and colliding with a stationary taxi while under the influence of alcohol, then fleeing the scene. Initially, Kim denied the accusations of drunken driving but later admitted to the offense and other related charges. The court's proceedings come after Kim's admission and his agreement to a settlement with the victim. Prosecutors have focused on charges of reckless driving resulting in injuries and fleeing the scene, among others, due to challenges in estimating the exact alcohol level at the time of the incident.
