Prosecutors Demand Prison Term for Popera Singer Kim Ho-joong Over Hit-and-Run Incident

Seoul: Prosecutors on Wednesday demanded a 3 1/2-year prison term for popera singer Kim Ho-joong for fleeing the scene after driving his car into a taxi and turning his manager in to the authorities on his behalf. Kim, 33, was indicted under arrest on charges of ramming his car into a stationary taxi in the opposite lane in Seoul's Gangnam Ward on May 9, leaving the scene without taking appropriate measures and then making his manager turn himself in.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim acknowledged responsibility 10 days after the incident. During his final testimony, he stated, "I reflected on all of my faults during my time served at the Seoul Detention Center and tried to repent (my actions) sincerely."

Earlier, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Kim to 2 1/2 years in prison. The appellate court is scheduled to deliver its ruling on April 25.
