Boracay: The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO6) has initiated a specialized team dedicated to intelligence gathering and targeting groups involved in vice-focused crimes, with a particular emphasis on drug-related offenses.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO6 director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky spearheaded the pre-deployment briefing and send-off program for the newly-formed Boracay Anti-Vice Unit at the Aklan Provincial Police Office, Camp Pastor Martelino in Kalibo, Aklan. The 22-member team is designed to support the Malay Municipal Police Station by collecting sufficient evidence against criminal organizations.

The unit's personnel are exclusively assigned to anti-criminality and intelligence tasks, leading efforts against illegal drug activities and related criminal threats. Their main goal is to identify and neutralize these threats, ensuring the safety and security of Boracay, especially during the high tourist seasons like Holy Week and summer vacations.

While the Anti-Vice Unit focuses on intelligence and anti-criminality operations, the local police will maintain essential functions, including police visibility and routine patrols. Brig. Gen. Wanky emphasized that the deployment of this augmentation force demonstrates the regional office's commitment to preserving Boracay's status as a premier tourist destination and enhancing tourism growth.
