Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday welcomed Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at Malaca±an Palace in Manila where they would hold a bilateral meeting. Hun Manet, who is on his second day in the Philippines, was accorded with arrival honors at the Palace's Kalayaan grounds.
According to Philippines News Agency, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Roque, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go, Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy, and Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr. joined Marcos in welcoming Hun Manet at Malaca±an. Hun Manet also signed the guest book prior to his bilateral meeting with Marcos.
This is the Cambodian leader's first visit to the Philippines. His two-day official visit to the country aims to advance Manila and Phnom Penh's cooperation in combatting transnational crimes, defense, trade, tourism, and regional and multilateral cooperation.
Marcos and Hun Manet are expected to witness the signing of agreements aimed at expanding the Philippines and Cambodia's bilateral collaboration across various sectors. The two nations' diplomatic relations were first established in 1957 and reaffirmed in 1995.
