Mendoza, Barnes Triumph at JPGT South Pacific

Davao city: Denise Mendoza of Cebu and Jamie Barnes of Cagayan de Oro emerged victorious in their respective divisions in the 7-10 category of the ICTSI South Pacific Junior PGT Championship held in Davao City. Mendoza, a 10-year-old, clinched the girls' title with a 36-hole total of three-under 141, highlighted by a score of 77 on the final day at the challenging South Pacific Golf and Residential Estates course.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mendoza expressed satisfaction with her performance, attributing her victory to several successful short putts. She maintained a significant 23-stroke lead over her closest competitor, Soleil Molde, who finished second after carding an 86 for a total of 173. Francesca Geroy completed the podium with a third-place finish, scoring a 93 for a total of 184.

In the boys' division, Jamie Barnes secured his straight title by posting a total score of 144, including a final round of 73. Barnes had previously claimed victories at the Del Monte and Pueblo de Oro tournaments. His closest challenger, Alburo, finished second with a score of 158 after carding a 78, while Miguel Revilleza came in third, tallying an 82 for a total of 161.

In the 11-14 category, Brittany Tamayo from South Cotabato and Jared Saban claimed the top honors. Tamayo achieved her second title in the girls' division with a 145 total, carding a 76 in the final round. Del Monte leg winner Kimberly Baroquillo finished second with a total of 148, while Zuri Bagaloyos placed third with a 153.

Jared Saban won the boys' division with an even-par 72 for a total of 146, defeating Ken Guillermo by nine strokes. Guillermo, who had previously topped the Del Monte and Pueblo de Oro legs, secured second place with a total of 155, while Marcus Due±as finished third with a score of 158.
