Albay, Camarines Sur—Over 4,300 residents have been evacuated from their homes in the provinces of Albay and Camarines Sur, as persistent heavy rains from Tropical Depression Gener, coupled with the southwest monsoon, have led to significant flooding across the region. This ongoing weather crisis has affected multiple municipalities, prompting urgent action from local disaster management teams.

According to Office of Civil Defense in Bicol (OCD-5), the deluge has compelled evacuation measures in 15 municipalities with 85 flooding incidents recorded so far. Gremil Alexis Naz, a spokesperson for OCD-5, highlighted the extensive coordination efforts with local disaster risk reduction and management offices (LDRRMOs) to address the immediate needs of affected communities. "Our operation division is actively working with LDRRMOs to manage the situation effectively," Naz stated. Affected areas include multiple communities in Camarines Sur such as Baao, Bula, and Nabua, along with regions in Albay and Sorsogon.

The evacuation process began as early as Sunday, and currently, 1,017 families, translating to approximately 4,397 individuals, have been relocated to temporary shelters. The scope of the disaster has also impacted infrastructure, with 15 local roads and bridges reported to be affected by the floods, severely restricting mobility and access to services.

In response to the crisis, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has distributed PHP1.129 million worth of family food packs and non-food items to support the displaced families. This aid is crucial as communities brace for ongoing adverse weather conditions and potential landslides, as advised by the OCD-5.
