Seoul: The National Fire Agency announced on Tuesday that it has escalated the fire response level to the highest tier to mobilize all available resources in an effort to contain wildfires spreading throughout the southeastern region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the agency has activated the third level of its three-tier system, which is implemented when significant damage from a disaster is anticipated. This level necessitates the deployment of all firefighting personnel and equipment across the nation. It is the first instance this year that the agency has issued such a high alert.

In response to the alert, firefighters are prioritizing the protection of residential areas and temples, evacuating residents from areas prone to fire, ensuring individual safety, and implementing strategic measures to safeguard firefighting personnel. The agency has dispatched nine special rescue teams to North Gyeongsang Province to facilitate rapid relief efforts.

Additionally, fire authorities have deployed large water cannons and chemical fire trucks to the region. These vehicles are capable of projecting substantial volumes of water over long distances, providing critical support in the ongoing firefighting operations.
