Pasig: The Eastern Police District (EPD) has taken a significant step towards promoting gender equality by setting up an all-female checkpoint in Barangay Pinagbuhatan. The checkpoint, which began operations on Friday, is strategically positioned at Urbano Velasco Avenue.According to Philippines News Agency, the checkpoint operates on a schedule divided into two shifts: 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. EPD Acting Director Col. Villamor Tuliao emphasized that the initiative not only acknowledges the crucial role of women in law enforcement but also enhances community relations, contributing to public safety and security.Col. Tuliao further stated that fostering stronger relationships with communities can lead to increased trust and cooperation, essential for effective law enforcement. The establishment of the all-female checkpoint also coincides with the celebration of National Women's Month.The EPD's jurisdiction includes the cities of San Juan, Marikina, Mandaluyong, and Pasig. In a broader effo rt to maintain security ahead of the May 12 elections, the Philippine National Police has implemented Commission on Elections checkpoints nationwide.
