MANILA — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) announced that 55 town development projects under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program (4PH) are currently underway across the country. These projects are at various stages of construction and collectively account for approximately 170,000 housing units.

According to Philippines News Agency, who spoke during a Malacañang Insider interview on Friday, the ongoing housing projects are being financed entirely by private funds, with no reliance on government funding. "Our housing project operates without using government funds. What we're using now are private funds," Acuzar stated.

The 4PH program is designed to address the significant housing backlog in the Philippines, particularly by focusing on affordability and accessibility. The program prioritizes informal settler families and individuals earning between PHP16,000 and PHP17,000 per month. Acuzar noted that housing units under the 4PH program are priced significantly lower than those offered by private developers, with units available for PHP1.8 million compared to the PHP5 million charged by other developers. The lower price is attributed to the exclusion of marketing, production costs, and developer profits, as the government serves as the project developer.

The DHSUD has set an ambitious goal of producing six million housing units by 2028. When asked about the feasibility of achieving this target, Acuzar expressed confidence, stating that three million units are expected to be completed within the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The remaining three million units will be prepared with plans, contractors, and other necessary components already in place, ready for construction.

"The Marcos administration has laid out the entire program, with plans and contractors in place, just waiting for construction," Acuzar added, emphasizing the administration's commitment to addressing the nation's housing needs.
