Manila: Overseas Filipino youth may now deepen their knowledge of the Philippine culture and heritage and reconnect with their roots through the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Youth Leaders in the Diaspora (YouLeaD) Summer Program 2025. In a news release Thursday, CFO Secretary Dante ‘Klink’ Ang II said the program offers an immersive experience that combines cultural exploration, leadership training, and meaningful networking among young Filipinos worldwide.
According to Philippines News Agency, the program offers an opportunity for young Filipinos and foreign nationals of Filipino descent to meet other young people their age from around the world. ‘From there, they can have the opportunity to build their global network,’ Ang said. ‘Whether you were born and raised abroad or recently moved overseas, YouLeaD offers a unique opportunity to explore the richness of Filipino history, traditions, and language, all while engaging in fun-filled activities and leadership training,’ he added.
Ang mentioned that the immersion program is designed for Filipinos aged 16 to 22 and provides a chance to explore the rich heritage, history, and traditions of the Philippines through site tours, cultural activities, and eco-tourism. The program aims to help young Filipinos rediscover their Filipino identity and embrace their heritage. ‘Many overseas Filipino youth grow up disconnected from their ancestral roots, often with limited exposure to their heritage,’ Ang said.
Participants are expected to shoulder the travel expenses to the Philippines, in addition to a modest fee to cover accommodation, food, and activity fees. The tentative program includes leadership training, cultural and gastronomy visits, adventure and eco-tourism, farm immersion, and cultural tours.
