Naujan: At least six children of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were served during the day-long outreach activity of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Naujan District Jail held inside the facility here on Feb. 22.

According to Philippines News Agency, the activity was part of BJMP Mimaropa’s ‘Kalinga sa Anak ng PDL Program’ and included services such as dental awareness and hygiene kits, gift-giving and food packs, as well as read-a-book and painting activities. Regional information officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo highlighted that the program emphasized the importance of hope, resilience, community support, and enabling PDLs to maintain connections with their loved ones.

The outreach initiative, Anglo stated in a news release, aims to bring hope, comfort, and essential support to the children of PDLs, reinforcing BJMP’s commitment to community service and social responsibility. The entire BJMP Mimaropa team expressed enthusiasm for reaching out and providing much-needed services, while also informing the public about the bureau’s programs and acting as agents of change in society.

In response to the initiative, Anglo noted that the children expressed gratitude towards all the jail personnel who helped make the event a success. “Their smiles and joy were strong indicators that they were genuinely happy and that all the extended support was worth it,” he added.

The BJMP Mimaropa, led by its regional director, Jail Senior Superintendent Clarence Mayangao, remains committed to its mission of serving and uplifting the community. The bureau continues to seek opportunities to extend assistance and bring hope to those in need.
