New delhi: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to participate in a series of crucial bilateral meetings today on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit in New Delhi. The Malaysian leader's agenda includes discussions with several prominent international counterparts, emphasizing Malaysia's active role in global economic and diplomatic engagements.According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar Ibrahim's day will commence with a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. This will be followed by a bilateral engagement with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also the host of the summit. Anwar's diplomatic outreach will continue with a meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.Additionally, Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled for a pull aside meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. These meetings underline the importance Malaysia places on strengthening ties with key nations across various regions.In the business sector, the Prime Minister will engage in one-on-one me etings with industry leaders, including representatives from the Adani Group, which is a significant player in India's transport logistics and energy sectors. Discussions are also slated with Segula Technologies India Pvt Ltd, AWL Agri Business Ltd, and Motherson Group, reflecting Malaysia's interest in fostering business collaborations with global engineering, agricultural, and manufacturing giants.Later, Anwar will attend a gala dinner with leaders from BRICS member and partner countries at the Bharat Mandapan, the venue for this year's summit. The event, themed 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,' aims to promote resilience, economic cooperation, and trade and investment reforms among participating nations.As a founding member of BRICS, India has played a pivotal role in the organization, having chaired the summit in 2012, 2016, and 2021, and is set to assume its fourth chairship in 2026. Malaysia, though not a founding member, has been participating as a BRICS partner country since January 1, 2025, highlighting its commitment to international economic collaboration.
