New delhi: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is looking forward to meeting India's Grand Mufti Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad during his visit to Keralam, officially renamed from Kerala, tomorrow after participating in the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his appreciation to the Grand Mufti in response to Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad's message welcoming him and the Malaysian delegation to India for the BRICS Summit and bilateral engagements. "Thank you for your warm wishes, Sheikh. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow, Insya-Allah," Anwar posted on Facebook today.

Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad had earlier expressed particular appreciation for Anwar's decision to include Jamia Markaz, one of India's premier Islamic institutions, in his itinerary. He noted that Anwar's commitment to exchanging views on community development, education, and religious affairs reflects a shared vision for intellectual and societal progress. "May this historic visit and bilateral dialogue open vibrant new pathways in higher education, social empowerment, and cultural connectivity between Malaysia and India, particularly fostering stronger ties with Keralam," he said.

Anwar is scheduled to meet Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad tomorrow to exchange views on community development, educational advancement, and interfaith harmony. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After completing his visit to Keralam, the Prime Minister is scheduled to depart for the Maldives on September 14.
