Moscow: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conveyed warm regards from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, to Russian President Vladimir Putin during their bilateral meeting here Friday. "Sultan Ibrahim sends his personal regards," Anwar stated during the meeting.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister also reiterated Sultan Ibrahim's invitation to President Putin to undertake a state visit to Malaysia. Anwar expressed optimism that such a visit would mark the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between Malaysia and Russia, characterized by increasing closeness and mutual benefits.

Sultan Ibrahim, who ascended the federal throne on January 31, 2024, has demonstrated a consistent interest in fostering relations with Russia, having visited the country three times. His Majesty made a state visit to Russia in August 2025, followed by a special visit in January 2026, and participated in the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow in May.
