Working Visit by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman to the United Arab Emirates, 23 to 25 October 2021

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai during his working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 23 to 25 October 2021.

 

Minister Maliki called on His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. They reaffirmed the excellent state of relations and discussed the COVID-19 situation in both countries. Minister Maliki conveyed his congratulations to Sheikh Abdullah on the UAE’s upcoming Golden Jubilee in December 2021, and on the UAE’s hosting of the Expo 2020 Dubai, the first in the Middle East. Minister Maliki had earlier visited the Singapore Pavilion which showcases our experience in overcoming our physical limitations as a small island city-state to become a liveable and sustainable city.

 

Separately, Minister Maliki met His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. Minister Maliki and Sheikh Mansoor had a good exchange of views on managing COVID-19 as countries reopen and transition to a new normal.

 

Minister Maliki also met Minister of Education His Excellency Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi. They discussed the challenges posed by the pandemic on the education system and agreed that there was scope for more collaboration between Singapore and the UAE in education. Minister Maliki also met Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the UAE Federal National Council His Excellency Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi. They had a frank exchange of views on regional developments.

 

In addition, Minister Maliki met separately with several Singaporeans in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Minister Maliki was also hosted on a tour of the Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.
