Seoul: LG Chem Ltd., South Korea's leading chemical firm, announced a collaboration with Japan's Noritake Co. to develop a high-performance adhesive specifically for automotive power semiconductors. The companies have successfully created an advanced silver paste designed for bonding silicon carbide (SiC) chips and substrates used in these semiconductors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the newly developed silver paste leverages LG Chem's expertise in particle design technology and Noritake's proficiency in particle dispersion. This combination results in a product with enhanced heat resistance and thermal conductivity, addressing critical needs in the automotive electronics sector.

LG Chem Vice Chairman and CEO Shin Hak-cheol emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating that it enhances their competitive position in the global automotive adhesive market. He highlighted LG Chem's history of providing tailored solutions across various industries, capitalizing on its technological capabilities and materials design expertise.

The market for silver paste is forecasted to grow significantly, from an estimated 300 billion won in 2025 to 850 billion won (approximately US$622 million) by 2030, as per the press release. Noritake, a company with over 120 years of experience in ceramics, is a well-established supplier of products for the electronics and automotive industries, including tableware, industrial materials, and components.
