Arab and Islamic Foreign Ministers Condemn Israel’s Rejection of Gaza Peace Roadmap

Riyadh: Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia and other Arab and Islamic countries have condemned Israel's declared rejection of the roadmap for completing the implementation of the US President's comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates have jointly expressed their disapproval of Israel's stance. This rejection pertains to the roadmap endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and the establishment of a Palestinian state, both integral components of US President Donald Trump's comprehensive plan for peace in Gaza.

The ministers highlighted that Israel's position undermines the collective efforts required to achieve a just and lasting peace, placing the responsibility for obstructing peace efforts squarely on Israel. The roadmap, which has been accepted by Palestinian factions, aims to limit weapons, facilitate the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deploy an international stabilization force, and transfer administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.

The foreign ministers emphasized that Israel's refusal to implement the roadmap threatens the progress made towards ending the conflict and achieving long-term stability in the region. They also stressed the importance of continued US engagement to ensure Israel's compliance with the commitments outlined in the comprehensive plan.

The ministers reaffirmed the necessity for the full implementation of the comprehensive plan to address humanitarian concerns, provide security, and enable reconstruction in Gaza. They reiterated their support for the two-state solution as the only viable path to lasting peace, advocating for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, the foreign ministers called on the Peace Council and the United States to actively support efforts to implement the roadmap and progress the comprehensive plan's second phase. They urged immediate action to prevent any party from hindering the plan's execution, emphasizing the role of international cooperation in maintaining its integrity.
