DMCI Mining to Launch Two New Mine Sites in 2024

Zambales – DMCI Mining Corp. has announced plans to begin operations at two new mine sites by the first half of 2024, anticipating the creation of additional employment opportunities in the host areas.

According to Philippines News Agency, in an interview on Thursday, the first site, located in Zambales, is expected to become operational in the first quarter of next year. Reyes expressed confidence in the timeline, stating that operations are “100 percent sure” to start as scheduled, with backhoes already set to be on the ground.

Reyes mentioned that the documentation process for the Zambales site is currently being finalized. In a prior interview, he revealed that approximately PHP250 million would be invested in developing this nickel mining site. The site, which is projected to produce 20 million metric tons, will be operated by Zambales Chromite Mining Co., a subsidiary of DMCI Mining.

The second mine site, whose location was not specified in the provided information, is slated to begin operations in the second quarter of 2024. Reyes noted that this site would require a more substantial investment compared to the Zambales project, as it involves constructing a new port and developing the site. He emphasized that the second mine would be larger in scale compared to the Zambales operation.
