Arellano beats EAC to keep NCAA women’s volley semis bid alive


MANILA: Arellano University rallied past Emilio Aguinaldo College, 24-26, 25-17, 25-20, 25-20, on Friday to boost its semifinal bid in the NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball tournament at Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Pauline de Guzman scored 17 points, — 16 on attacks — in leading the Lady Chiefs to their fifth win against three losses.

‘Hindi na po kami pwede matalo (We can’t lose anymore),” De Guzman, who also had 10 digs in the one hour and 57-minute encounter, said.

Laika Tudlasan chipped in 15 points, Harem Ceballos added 11 points, 11 digs and seven receptions, while Dodee Risa Batindaan had 10 points.

Donnalyn Mae Paralejas made 18 excellent sets while Khey Aleck Pablo produced 15 receptions and 11 digs.

Cathrine Almazan and Alessandra Razonable finished with 19 points each for the Lady Generals, who are winless in eight outings.

In the other game, Mapua University survived Lyceum of the Philippines University, 21-25, 25-19, 26-28, 25-16, 15-13, to likewise keep its bid alive.

ruz had 20 points and 17 excellent digs for the Lady Cardinals, who improved to 5-3.

Raissa Janel Ricablanca contributed 18 points, three on blocks, while Alyana Nicole Ong had 16 points, including four blocks and three aces. Nadine Angeli Berces added 13 points.

Lyceum, which took its second loss against six wins, was paced by Johna Denise Dolorito, who had 25 points and 17 excellent digs.
