Uzbekistan leads TOP-3 largest importers of Kazakh grain

Uzbekistan has again become the main importer of grain from Kazakhstan, Centralasianlight.org. reported. At the same time, the Uzbek market accounts for 47.3% of Kazakhstani exports. In 2022, the amount of wheat imported by Uzbekistan increased by 8.3% with an increase in value by almost a third, the Bureau of Statistics of Kazakhstan said in a statement. Kazakhstan exported 2.99 million tons of wheat and olives to Uzbekistan in 2022. Kazakhstan’s revenue from exporting products to Uzbekistan reached $824.8 million, which is 32% more than in 2021. Tajikistan has become the second main buyer of Kazakh grain after Uzbekistan. Afghanistan came in third with a 20% increase in its purchases, Iran came in fourth. However, the export of Kazakh grain to Russia has almost halved. Earlier, Uzbekistan increased imports of pineapples. There are hundreds of tons of exotic fruits in the country. Uzbekistan also doubled the import of bananas. Most bananas are imported into the country from Ecuador. The total cost of wheat imported to Uzbekistan since the beginning of 2022 has exceeded $320 million.
