Puerto Princesa Molecular Lab Honored for Pandemic Best Practices

PUERTO PRINCESA - The Department of Health (DOH) has recognized the Puerto Princesa molecular diagnostic laboratory for its exemplary service delivery during the Covid-19 pandemic. City Information Officer Richard Ligad announced the accolade on Friday, highlighting the lab as a model of best practices in the Mimaropa region.

According to Philippines News Agency, the laboratory was selected by the Award Selection Committee after a comprehensive evaluation. The staff members were commended for their exceptional dedication, particularly during the pandemic. In a memorandum dated November 14, DOH Undersecretary Nestor Santiago Jr. acknowledged the laboratory's significant contribution to the city's pandemic response as part of the "Presentation of Best Practices." Mayor Lucilo Bayron's decision to fund the establishment of the laboratory, valued at PHP26 million, was crucial in enhancing Covid-19 testing and treatment capabilities in the city. The laboratory, in addition to its recognition, is scheduled to receive a special award on December 1 for its Quality Assurance Program within the Mimaropa region.
