Myanmar Resumed Equestrian Competition After Three-Year Suspension

YANGON– The Myanmar Equestrian Federation, resumed its President’s Cup Competition here, after three years’ suspension over COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Over 40 jockeys participated in the three-day competition, which runs from Monday to Wednesday (today).

 

The youngest jockey in the event is 14 years old, according to the federation.

 

“The event aims to promote the country’s equestrian sports and marks the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of Independence Day,” U Htay Kyaw, secretary of the federation, told the media.

 

The competition features dressage and jumping demonstration, he said.

 

The federation will hold more equestrian events in the near future, to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), which is scheduled to be held in Thailand, he added.
