Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat - The local police force in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, is actively pursuing two suspects involved in the fatal ambush of a head teacher from Maguindanao Sur.

According to Philippines News Agency, Lambayong town police chief, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of Hermielex A. Kapusan.

Kapusan, the head teacher of Tukanakuden Elementary School, was gunned down by two unidentified gunmen along the national highway in Barangay Tinumigues. The attack took place around 5:20 p.m. while Kapusan was returning home on a motorbike. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, but the police are following a lead that might help capture the perpetrators. Despite the efforts of responding militiamen who rushed Kapusan to the hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police are investigating whether the murder is connected to Kapusan's professional work.
