Legazpi City SSS Members Urged to Claim Over 1.2K UMID Cards

Legazpi City, Philippines – The Social Security System (SSS) is calling on more than 1,200 members under the Legazpi City branch to collect their Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) cards by December 29. Jeanette Mapa, the SSS-Bicol spokesperson, announced this directive on Friday, noting the urgency due to the upcoming disposal of unclaimed cards in line with the SSS retention policy.

According to Philippines News Agency, the unclaimed UMID cards, some of which were returned by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) after two unsuccessful delivery attempts, need to be claimed soon. Members can check the status of their UMID card application on the My.SSS Portal and collect their cards at the respective SSS branch where the application was filed. The unclaimed UMID cards date from August 2017 to December 2020.

Mapa also mentioned that since February this year, SSS has ceased accepting applications for regular UMID cards. However, it is offering UMID ATM Pay Cards exclusively to members who either already possess UMID cards or have pending applications for them.
