KOTRA Hosts Seminar in Netherlands to Boost High-Tech Investments in South Korea

Eindhoven: The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced that it co-hosted an investment seminar in the Netherlands aimed at attracting high-tech Dutch investments to South Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Invest Korea, KOTRA's investment promotion unit, organized the seminar in Eindhoven on Thursday, gathering local officials and representatives from over 30 Dutch firms in the semiconductor and advanced tech sectors. The event was a collaborative effort with the South Korean city of Gwangmyeong and Incheon International Airport Corp.

KOTRA provided insights into South Korea's investment environment and the various incentives available, focusing on government policies that support the semiconductor industry and the current state of the country's semiconductor clusters. The seminar highlighted South Korea's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for foreign investors in the high-tech sector.

The Netherlands has prioritized information technology fields, such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, as part of its top 10 strategic industries. The country is actively increasing its research and development investments and fostering global cooperation in these areas. This strategic focus aligns with South Korea's goals to enhance collaboration in high-tech sectors.

Dutch semiconductor equipment giant ASML, which supplies advanced extreme ultraviolet lithography machines to Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix Inc., exemplifies the existing ties between the two nations in the semiconductor industry. "Given the Netherlands' role as a hub for high-tech innovation in Europe, there is strong global demand for collaboration in semiconductors and advanced materials," stated Kim Tae-hyung, head of Invest Korea.
