Galeries Tower and Nxled Target Quarterfinal Spots in Volleyball League


Pasig City: Galeries Tower and Nxled are setting their sights on securing quarterfinal berths in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference qualifying round on Thursday at the Philsports Arena. Galeries Tower is scheduled to face off against the third-seed Cignal at 4 p.m., while Nxled will challenge the top-seed Creamline at 6:30 p.m.



According to Philippines News Agency, the Highrisers, who concluded the preliminary round in the 10th position, are counting on key players including Ysa Jimenez, Jewel Encarnacion, France Ronquillo, and middle blockers Roselle Baliton and Andrea Marzan. Additional support will come from Grazie Bombita, RJ Doromal, Jho Maraguinot, and rookie setter/spiker Julia Coronel.



Leading the charge for the HD Spikers is Vanie Gandler, who will be supported by Jacqueline Acu±a, Judith Abil, Roselyn Doria-Aquino, Jovelyn Fernandez, and promising rookie Ishie Lalongisip. Cignal head coach Shaq delos Santos emphasized maintaining their game intensity and proper recovery during this crucial second round of competition.



Nxled, on the other hand, is preparing to rely on players like Lycha Ebon, EJ Laure, Krich Macaslang, May Luna, Chiara Permentilla, Jaycel delos Reyes, Jaila Atienza, and Lucille Almonte as they face the formidable Creamline team. Creamline’s lineup features prominent players Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos, Jema Galanza, and Kyle Negrito.



Valdez noted the importance of taking each game as it comes and highlighted improvements in their system and blocking. She stressed the need for discipline in executing their system, focusing on perfecting basics and counterattacks, which will be crucial in tight matches.
