Aguilas and Perlas Clinch Playoff Spots in WMPBL Invitational


Taguig: Pilipinas Aguilas and Discovery Perlas secured their spots in the playoffs of the 2025 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) Invitational after defeating separate opponents at the Enderun Gym.



According to Philippines News Agency, Alexis Pana led the charge for Pilipinas Aguilas with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, adding five rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and one block in their 82-75 win over the University of Santo Tomas (UST). Mar Prado also contributed significantly with 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Chack Cabinbin and Kem Adishina added solid performances to propel Aguilas to their third consecutive victory.



Pilipinas Aguilas head coach Ryan Monteclaro expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting the strong program of their opponents, UST, under coach Haydee Ong. Despite UST’s first loss after three consecutive wins, their players, including Kent Pastrana and Nicole Danganan, showed resilience with notable contributions.



In another matchup, Discovery Perlas defeated Galeries Tower 74-67, joining Aguilas at the top of Group A with a 4-1 record. Allana Lim led Perlas with 24 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, supported by Raiza Palmera-Dy and Tantoy Ferrer, who added crucial points and assists.



Meanwhile, Far Eastern University, Cavite Tol, Solar Home, and Centro Escolar University will compete for the remaining playoff slots, each having only one win so far. Imus-SIS VBL also notched a victory against Centro Escolar University, thanks to a decisive basket by Nikka Villanueva.
