The outbreak of COVID-19 created a double whammy for Asia and the Pacific: the relaxation of certain tax measures to keep businesses afloat together with increased spending on health and social services. Now, the challenge is to recoup those public finances in a way that balances the ongoing recovery. ADB Director General Bruno Carrasco joins ADB Insight to discuss how domestic resource mobilization can support not only the recovery from the pandemic but help finance the critical investment the region requires.
