Vietnam’s Traffic Accidents Down 11.5 Percent In H1

HANOI– A total of 6,007 traffic accidents occurred in Vietnam in the first half of this year, down 11.5 percent against the same period last year, according to the country’s Traffic Police Department today.

The accidents killed 3,092 people, severely injured 2,032 and slightly injured 2,284, the department said.

The numbers of deaths and slight injuries declined 4.6 percent and 24.1 percent, respectively, while severe injuries rose 5.2 percent against the same period last year.

On average, between Jan and Jun, Vietnam saw 33 traffic accidents per day, which claimed 17 lives and injured 24 people.

In 2020, Vietnam reported more than 14,500 traffic accidents, which killed 6,700 people and injured over 10,800, according to the department.
