MANILA—The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tiger Cubs continued their undefeated run in the Under-19 Next Generation Basketball League (NGBL), dominating MGC New Life (MGCNL) Christian Academy 134-45 at the Tanduay gym last Sunday.

According to the Philippines News Agency, Ron Jay Catalan led the charge with 23 points, three assists, two rebounds, and two steals, steering the Tiger Cubs to their fourth consecutive victory and maintaining their lead in Group B. "In the second quarter, coach told us to defend and just stick to our system," Catalan shared, highlighting the team's disciplined approach under coach Manu Iñigo.

Despite the effort from Adrian Tan, who scored 13 points for MGCNL, and contributions from Adam Uy and Trey Chua, who each added 11 points, MGCNL has yet to secure a win after four games. In other league action, Ateneo de Manila narrowly defeated La Salle-Greenhills 85-83, marking a significant win that boosted their record to 2-2, placing them third in Group A.

Ethan Kaw of Ateneo played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring crucial points in the closing moments to overcome a late challenge by La Salle-Greenhills. "Of course, the rivalry is there. But we treated this like a normal game. We did our job, and we executed our plays. I'm happy that we pulled out this win. It shows that our hard work and determination paid off," Kaw said after the game.

The matchup saw intense competition, with La Salle-Greenhills' Gian Gomez hitting a critical three-pointer to bring the game within one point, but Ateneo held on for the win. James Ison led La Salle-Greenhills with 19 points, supported by Guillian Quines and Arle Podador, who each scored 16 points.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University-Diliman recorded a solid 90-64 victory over Lyceum of the Philippines University, with both teams now sharing third place in Group B at 2-2. Mico Pascual stood out for the Baby Tamaraws with 15 points and six rebounds, while Gemel Julio led the Baby Pirates with 19 points.
