PARAÑAQUE CITY—Three Chinese nationals were apprehended early Monday for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a Malaysian national in Parañaque City, as reported by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

According to the Philippines News Agency, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. identified the suspects as Li Xue Chang, 34; Huang Guanghong, 27; and Wang Yefu, 24, who are all residing at Shore Residences in Pasay City. The arrest was made during a 5:30 a.m. entrapment operation along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Barangay Tambo, which also resulted in the victim's rescue.

The 42-year-old Malaysian victim was reportedly abducted around 11 p.m. on September 6. The operation was triggered by a report from the victim’s friend, who received ransom demands and photos showing the victim being tortured, sent via the messaging app Telegram. Items seized from the suspects included three caliber .45 pistols, ammunition, bladed weapons, several mobile phones, boodle money, and a silver Mitsubishi Adventure vehicle implicated in the crime.

The suspects are now facing charges of kidnapping, violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and illegal possession of deadly weapons. Police are also investigating whether the suspects are connected to other criminal activities.
