CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES - A severe traffic accident occurred on Sunday in Naawan, Misamis Oriental, involving a passenger bus and a refrigerated wing van, resulting in three deaths and 48 critical injuries.

According to Philippines News Agency, the crash claimed the lives of Jasper Haim and Anthony Reyes, with a third male victim remaining unidentified at the time of reporting. M/Sgt. Mark Gil Macasero, in a radio interview, stated that the injured parties were promptly transported to the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital and Northern Mindanao Medical Center for urgent care.

Further details revealed by the police investigation indicated that the bus, en route to Iligan City, swerved lanes unexpectedly after its driver reported a stone being thrown at the vehicle. This sudden maneuver led to the collision with the oncoming truck, ultimately causing the bus to veer off the road and down a shallow cliff along the highway. The driver of the truck was present at the police station and mentioned plans to discuss the incident further with both his supervisors and representatives from the bus company.
