Seoul-bound subway services on Line 1 disrupted after death on track near Uiwang


A person was struck by a metro train and died after trespassing on a rail track in Uiwang, south of Seoul, on Monday, causing disruptions in the Seoul-bound services on Line 1 in the affected sections.

The accident occurred at 7:57 a.m. between Uiwang Station and Dangjeong Station after the person entered the railway track without permission. Details, including the person’s identity, were not available immediately.

The Seoul-bound subway services were briefly halted and then suffered delays, as the rail track where the accident happened was closed to deal with the aftermath. Officials said it is expected to take some time to restore services.

Officials said they are looking into the exact cause of the accident.
