Senator Imee Marcos Distributes PHP5,000 Educational Assistance to Ilocos Norte Students

LAOAG CITY — In an event on Saturday, Senator Imee Marcos facilitated the distribution of PHP5,000 in educational assistance to 3,067 college students across Ilocos Norte. This financial aid, part of the senator’s commitment to education in the region, was the second installment following an earlier distribution on August 17.

According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative, part of the ‘Makabasa Latta’ program under the Department of Social Welfare and Development, aims to support families whose livelihoods, particularly in farming, were adversely affected by recent tropical cyclones. Marcos, in her address, reassured that more than 7,000 additional students would benefit from the government’s assistance, emphasizing the importance of educational attainment despite life’s challenges. This gesture of support follows the financial aid provided to 2,500 village health workers in Ilocos Sur, each receiving PHP3,000 under a similar assistance program.
