SEOUL, Samsung SDI Co. on Tuesday reported its first-quarter net profit of 286.7 billion won (US$208.4 million), down 38.3 percent from a year earlier.
The company said in a regulatory filing that operating income for the January-March period fell 28.8 percent on-year to 267.4 billion won. Revenue decreased 4.2 percent to 5.13 trillion won.
The earnings fell behind market expectations. The average estimate of net profit by analysts stood at 290.7 billion won, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
