President visits newly built construction of Mahosot hospital

President ThonglounSisoulith and his delegation visited the China-aided construction project of Mahosot Hospital on October 12, where he was welcomed by Minister of Health BounfengPhoummalaisith, Chinese Charge d’Affairs to Laos, Mr Wang Chang, Director General of Mahosot Hospital, Dr Souxath Vongphachanh and relevant officials. President ThonglounSisoulith and his delegation visited the China-aided construction project of Mahosot Hospital on October 12, where he was welcomed by Minister of Health BounfengPhoummalaisith, Chinese Charge d’Affairs to Laos, Mr Wang Chang, Director General of Mahosot Hospital, Dr Souxath Vongphachanh and relevant officials.

Dr Souxath reported the progress of the ongoing construction and use of the new hospital building. The construction project, built on 31,500 square meters, a 60% of the total area, received assistance from Chinese government in 2017.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the construction with a total fund of 590,790,977 Renminbi was held on November 14, 2017 in
the presence of the former President Bounnhang Vorachith and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The completed first phase with the construction of two buildings with eight floors and 4 floors was completed in November 2021 and opened for public use a month later.

The ongoing construction of two buildings with four floors and five floors consisting of 600 beds is now 70% complete and is expected to be completed in November 2023, said Dr Souxath.
